Magnesium Alloy Die Casting Process
Magnesium die casting need 3 primary components. For examples; an Hot chamber die casting machine, die casting dies and ingot. the molds for die casting made by high strength steel. to withstand rapid changes in temperature.
The machine press the molten metal into tooling. after cool down; get the parts, the whole process include temperature, cooling, speed, time, pressure and other factor, it is complex. the complete process cycle time is short, from a few seconds to several minutes. Parts have gate; burs and flash in this stage. hence, we need to debug these with manual or die cutting machine. Although the appearance of magnesium alloy is brighter after cleaning and polishing. but the deformation will be larger, which is more difficult to correct due to the hardness of magnesium.
There have two types surface treatment; such as, Anodizing and Hardening.
For some critical dimension with smaller tolerance. need to run CNC machining to make it.
